Reverend Ben Tibbs, Councilman and Vice President of
the Board for the Economic Development Corporation 4B for the City of
Hempstead, and Chairman of the Waller County Democrats is the speaker for the
Men's Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. -10:30 a.m. in
the Parish Hall of St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church, 204 Dooley Street.
Mr. Tibbs will speak on “Men of Character-Men of Velvet and Steel” using
the scripture from Genesis 1:26-31.
Mr. Tibbs received his early
education in Mineral Wells and is a graduate of Mineral Wells High School. He holds the
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology/Sociology from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort
Worth and the Master of Divinity from Texas Christian University and is a
licensed and ordained United Methodist Minister. He has pastored Churches all across Central
Texas and retired from full time preaching from First UMC in Hempstead. Mr. Tibbs continues to preach and fill the
pulpit for Pastors when they are absent for various reasons. He moved to Hempstead in 1989 and owned and
operated the Texas Burger through 1995 when he sold the business and took up
employment with Valero Energy Corporation as area manager for eight
stores.
Mr. Tibbs
was first elected to the Hempstead City Council in 2009 and is serving his
third term. His other civic engagements
include Elected Chair for the Waller County Democrats, President of the
Austin/Waller Camp of Gideons International, and three time President of Waller
County Democratic Club.
