The Men of St. Francis of Assisi will host its Monthly Men's Prayer Breakfast on
Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. -10:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall of the church, 204 Dooley Street.
The speaker for the breakfast is Reverend Dwayne A. Thompson, Senior Pastor, First United Methodist Church – Prairie View and the
Executive Director, The Wesley Foundation at Prairie View A&M University. He
formerly served the Texas Annual Conference (TAC), Southwest District as the Associate
Pastor of the Covenant Glen UMC, in Missouri City, Texas and has held pastoral
appointments for: Ebenezer UMC – Houston, Texas, Glen Brook UMC – Houston,
Texas, and Wesley Tabernacle UMC – Galveston, Texas and St. Paul UMC -
Huntsville Texas.
Reverend
Thompson holds the Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from LeTourneau
University and the Masters of Divinity degree from the Perkins School of
Theology at Southern Methodist University.
He has actualized God’s vision for his life through full-time ministry
on the heels of contributing his professional expertise for more than 30 years
in the area of Public Transportation to the Metropolitan Transit Authority.
Reverend
Thompson’s areas of leadership include: church administration, program
development, spiritual enrichment, counseling, discipleship, prayer, visitation
and bereavement. He also served as speaker for Leadership, Spiritual
Development, Church Visioning and/or special Commemorative Celebrations for
various churches and organizations.
Reverend
Thompson is a devoted family man, the husband of Charla Parker-Thompson and a
beautiful family of daughters.
