Anthony Hill is Men's Prayer Breakfast speaker at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church

Anthony Hill is the speaker for the Men's Prayer Breakfast at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church set for Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall of the church at 204 Dooley Street, Prairie View.

The free breakfast is open to the men of the community, who are asked to confirm their attendance at 936-857-3272 or email: stfrancispv@sbcglobal.net.

Anthony is the Director of Technology and Infrastructure for the City of Hempstead. He graduated from Hempstead High School in 1980 and is a two-time graduate from Prairie View A&M University obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1991 and a Master’s in Community Development in 2006.

Prior to his position with the city, Anthony retired at the age of 50 from the Hempstead Independent School District as the Director of Technology after serving some 10 years.  Upon his retirement, he became the Director of Parks and Recreation in 2013 for the City of Hempstead. As the director of parks and recreations he was able to create programs for all ages and designed a football field designated especially for the little league football players and local soccer players. Anthony also worked as the Director of Technology for 15 years and a Network Analysis for the College of Engineering at Prairie View A&M University.

From 1992 to 2002, Anthony became active in the community by obtaining the role of the Youth Camp Director for the Johnny Holland Sports Camp. This camp helped promote leadership skills and implemented teamwork among the youth.

In 2002, Anthony became the president of the Hempstead Community Youth Organization. This organization created a youth football program and implementation of new training programs for new coaches. This program was created to improve the relationship between African American fathers and sons and to implement an educational program for the players after school and before football practice.
From 2003 to 2005 Anthony was named president for the Hempstead Youth Sports Association. After 12 years, this organization is still present in Hempstead, Texas.

In 2005, he was selected to participate in an all-expense paid Fulbright-Hays Scholar Abroad trip to China for his dedicated services with the youth and the community in the local cities. His group was able to visit Shanghai, Beijing, and other popular cities in China.

In 2011, Anthony noticed that there was a weakness in the area of math and science among the students in the local areas. Anthony established a collaboration with the departments from Prairie View A&M University such as the Math, Science, Biology, Agriculture, and Engineering departments. The STEM program (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) was then established for the youth of the local school areas. In this program, students from the ages of 3-18 learn how to use their knowledge from the STEM program to build toothpick bridges, Lego Robots, and build electronic circuits.

Anthony is the proud pastor of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church which is located in Bryan, TX and he loves the Lord with all his heart, soul, and mind. He realizes that none of his accomplishments mentioned previously would’ve been done without Jesus Christ being his personal Savior.

Anthony has been married to the lovely Shelia Hill for 25 years and they have 6 children: 2 girls and 4 boys.  Anthony and his family resides in Hempstead, Texas.
