Immanuel Pastor David Charleston is Men's Breakfast Speaker at St. Francis of Assisi

Pastor David Charleston is the speaker for the Men’s Prayer Breakfast at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church on October 21 at 8:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall of the Church on 204 Dooley Street. of the Immanuel Baptist Church is the speaker. Pastor David is a 1974 graduate of Waller High School and attended Prairie View A&M University. He later graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas. He also was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army at University of Texas at Austin in 1980.

Charleston’s military tour of duty included stints as an Air Defense Operations Officer, at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas, Republic of South Korea, and Fort Riley, Kansas. During his tenure he received the Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Achievement Medal and the Army Commendation medal with Oak Leaf cluster. In 1984, he was honorably discharged as a Captain.
Following his military career Pastor Charleston taught in the Hempstead and Waller Independent School Districts from 1985-1987. In 1987 began another career with the US Postal Service as a Rural Mail Carrier.

Pastor David received spiritual enrichment through Mount Corinth Baptist Church in Hempstead under Rev. J.R. Hicks and the Second Corinth Baptist Church, Hempstead under Rev. Cube Charleston. He accepted his calling into the ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in 1998.
During his childhood David was active in sports and scouting. He also enjoys music, golf and is a keyboardist and vocalist. He was member of the PVAMU marching band back in the day.

David is married to Donna Charleston and have three children and six grandchildren. He is the Founding Pastor of The Immanuel Church at Prairie View which began in 2001. Additionally, he serves as the vice-president of the Waller Ministerial Alliance and is the President of the Minister’s Conference of the Old Landmark Baptist District Association and Auxiliaries of Texas.

Members of the community are also encouraged to come out and support the Houston FoodBank Mobile Unit which will be at the St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church on October 19 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church on 204 Dooley Street in Prairie View. There are no qualifications necessary, and persons may sign up for SNAP, Children’s Medicaid/CHIP and TANF programs. Patrons must be present and signed in  to receive the food.
